This polical cartoon describing the Palmer Raids shows the Department of Justice's attempt to find leftists especially anarchists in society and persecuting them lead by Mitchel Palmer (Attorney General). The big man in the middle is Palmer while the people he is holding in shackles are potential anarchists. Airplanes and bombs are seen in he backgrounds referring to Palmer's bombing of civilian homes (communists) and his "henchmen" wearing an officer's uniform in the background is catching people in nets referring to the way they were literally "catching" communists and persecuting them for their beliefs. Then on the bottom of Palmer is a man holding the U.S. Flag literally using a magnifying glass to examine citizens. A wife on the bottom left of the cartoon is trying to protest, but she is too small to be noticed by Palme.r Under Palmer's foot is a deadman trampled by Palmer. This refers to the American outrage of Palmer's Actions and Raids.
