Reasons for Shay's Rebellion
1. The current amount of taxes that colonists are subjected to is ridiculous considering the harsh economic times.
2. The hard earned money of the colonists should be used to aid the efforts fora united territory for the colonists, not to battle the debt of the British since the colonists are paying for Britain without any benefits.
3. After Britain canceled the Writ of Habeas Corpus (right of acused), the colonists were denied the most basic rights of having just punishments and the rights of Englishmen.
4. The placement of the Riot Act which gave unlimited power to British officials is an act of revenge against their own people.
5. Colonists now see Mother England as a boundary to their liberties and because of this will begin to fight their own national debts.
In Other words:
-taxes are too expensive $$$$$
-no colonial benefits from taxes
-denied rights of Englishmen
-Riot Act gave unjust punishment of colonists
-Mother England is a boundary to their liberty
