The Harlem Renaissance is the era where African Americans gained some status and status in America, especially through the arts. Many African Americans participated in what is now called the "Great Migration" and moved into the North to find jobs. They earned fame through their work in blues like Zedda Jones and through dancing, etc.

Some of the important figures during the Harlem Renaissance include Duke Ellington who was a Jazz pianist and composer, Zora Hurston who was a Southern actress and writer, and Louis Armstrong who was a jazz musician. James Johnson was the leader of the NAACP.
